Sweet blessings

I had the opportunity to tag along one Saturday with Lorrie Prothero photography.  Go check her out on facebook, she's awesome and so nice to let me follow her around! https://www.facebook.com/LorrieProthero

I choose

When I was a child, I wanted to be older and not have anyone to tell me to eat my vegetables and when to go to bed.  I was not going to be mean to my kids and make them eat slimy spinach, that's for sure.

As an adult, I want to be younger and not have to deal with the mundane tasks of life like paying bills and taxes.

When I was in high school, I wanted to be out, to do what I wanted when I wanted to do it, and not have to go to silly things like pep rallies.

When I was living at home with my parents, I wanted to travel, see the world, and meet new people.

When I was a flight attendant, I wanted to be at home with my family and friends, sleep in my own bed, and play with my puppy.

When I was working as a nurse, I wanted to be back in college hanging out with my friends, and eating at Thai Bowl and not working night shift.

When I was single, I wanted to be married and not have to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and go to friends' weddings by myself.

As a wife, I want to have kids and be able to leave a legacy for the future generation.

But waiting for your next stage in life is HARD, and I'm learning to choose to be grateful where I am and what I am doing.
It's a lesson that I recommend you try to learn sooner rather than later.

Perhaps, that's what my thirties are for...

At least, I don't have to say "I wish I was back to a human".

One Day

You meet thousands of people
and none of them really touch you.
And then you meet one person and your life is changed forever.
-Love and Other Drugs

I met my one person May 17, 2005.
I was a flight attendant for a small charter company.
We had a contract with the government to move troops all over the world
I was on reserve that week and got a call for a trip to Frankfurt, Germany.
I did not want to go.
My mom always wanted to be a nurse as a little girl, but life got in the way.
Four girls later, and supporting my dad with his small business
she decided to go back to school to be a nurse.
This was the week she was graduating from nursing school.
I fought tooth and nail to get out of the trip.
I asked to switch with someone.
I just plainly said I'm not going.
Then the company said if I don't go, I'll be written up.
Not a good thing at all if I wanted to keep my job.

So I got on an airplane.
I was the inside crew.
He was the outside crew.
He wasn't suppose to be on that trip, someone else called in sick.
I had been in Germany for two nights waiting for the plane to get in.
He traveled from Tacoma, Washington for 20 plus hours and never got off the plane.
I had worked for the company for almost 2 years.
He had been there for over 5 years.
We had never met.

He said he had given up on love.
I had never been in love.
We got off the plane in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
I didn't even feel my feet touch the ground.

My life changed forever.
On an airplane.

Hi My Name is...

Hi, my name is Emily and I like to eavesdrop.

When my hubby and I are out and about, I often check out of our conversation and seem to naturally tune into other people's conversations.  But, I do eventually return to my husband who has a confused look on his face and says, did you just check out?

Why yes, yes I did.

While out for breakfast over the weekend we were sitting down eating when a couple of middle age, tourist type looking women walked in with their fanny packs, sweatpants, and tennis shoes.
There was a large much older man on his way out that was staring at them saying whoa look at all these beautiful women!

I laughed out loud and said to my confused hubby, it doesn't matter how old, or how out of place a woman might feel, it ALWAYS feels good to hear you look beautiful.

So then he says, do I tell you often enough that you're beautiful?

Why yes, yes you do.

On a Mission

My hubby wanted to stroll down memory lane by going to the San Gabriel mission.

It's a California thing to do a project in the 4th grade about a California mission, so it was us and a bunch of kids and parents going around taking photos and collecting ideas for their next project. It was funny!

He made a model of the Santa Barbara mission back in the day.

I remember reading Lord of the Flies, and staying up late the night before trying to finish my project. I think my mom just finished it for me. She's really creative, thanks mom! shhh, don't tell Mrs. Patterson.

What was your 4th grade project?

Manic Monday

I wish it were Sunday, cause that's my funday.
Where was I on Sunday, you wonder.  Well, HB baby.
That's Huntington Beach to you non-So Cal people.

It's a place where you can really beat your drum.
Or toot your horn.
 Or ring your bells.
Or just DANCE to your own beat.

After people watching, it's so relaxing to simply walk on the beach hand in hand with the honeybunny.  And take silly, up the nose, tilted, and out of focus photos of ourselves.
We wouldn't want it any other way!

Time it goes so fast
When you're having fun.

Sun + Sand

I just love palm trees!

 Who you looking at?

Venice beach is quite colorful, in more ways than one...

If you want to conquer fear,
don't sit at home and think about it.
Go out and get busy.
